Creating growth opportunities for entrepreneurs is a buzz phrase in South Africa and everyone seems to know how it can be done except from the regulators. On this MoneyMakers with Bruce Whitfield, we discuss a new programme driving shopping habits with the President of the Mzansi Business Forum, Siya Kevin Xulu. The forum has a campaign dubbed "I Support Black Business" which aims to create opportunities of growth for black entrepreneurs.

In theory, most companies would love to diversify their workforce. In practice, hiring specifically to increase diversity can cause a variety of cultural problems within an organization. Professor Robin Ely discusses two of her cases that train a critical lens on race-based and race-blind hiring, and some of the best practices firms can employ to achieve a well-balanced staff.

Former President Thabo Mbeki believes the fragmentation of the voice of Black business is making it impossible to achieve economic emancipation. Mbeki says new business leaders in black communities need to emulate people such as Dr. Sam Motsuenyane if the ideal of a truly liberated South Africa is to be realised.
The former President was speaking to the SABC ahead of an event to honour the man regarded as the father of Black Business, Dr. Sam Motsuenyane, who led the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry, NAFCOC for 24 years.

The Black Business Council has dismissed allegations made by Business Unity South Africa President Sipho Pityana
in an open letter.
BBC President Sandile Zungu told the SABC that the letter only sought to undermine the success of the 2019 Black Business Summit.
This year's summit is themed.. Economic Transformation within the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Johannesburg, 27 September 2016 - President Jacob Zuma addresses the Black Business Council (BBC) Awards Gala Dinner in Sandton on Tuesday, under the theme: “Transformation – why we should continue advocating for it”.

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba says the Treasury will use its 500 billion rand annual procurement budget to transform the economy and give more support to black-owned businesses.
He was speaking at a business dinner hosted by the Black Business Council in Johannesburg.
